TV actress Madhura Naik, known for her roles in shows like Naagin and Kasautii Zindagii Kay, has publicly condemned recent incidents of language-based violence in Maharashtra, particularly highlighting a case where a businessman was assaulted for not speaking Marathi. As a Maharashtrian herself, Naik shared that she grew up in West Asia (Bahrain) and initially had a limited grasp of Marathi due to her upbringing abroad. Upon returning to Mumbai, she faced no discrimination for her lack of fluency and was instead supported as she worked to improve her command of the language.Naik emphasized the importance of Hindu unity and advocated for languages to serve as a unifying force rather than a source of division. She stated, “We should love and respect all languages. Hindu culture believes in accepting everybody—why should we target someone for being different?” Her remarks align with a broader call for inclusivity, urging people to embrace linguistic diversity rather than using it as a basis for conflict. Her comments come in the context of recent incidents, such as the assault on a shopkeeper in Mira Road by Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) workers for not speaking Marathi, which has sparked widespread debate. Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis also condemned such acts, stating that while promoting Marathi is important, violence over language is unacceptable and that legal action would be taken against those who take the law into their own hands.
Ps Currently Madhura is based in Dubai and runs a real estate firm
