Somy Ali: My mom had biggest crush on Rajesh Khanna

Rajesh Khanna's birthday is on December 29, and social activist Somy Ali recalled how her mom had the biggest crush on the late actor.

"My mom had the biggest crush on him and all she would listen to was his songs, the majority of them sung by Kishore da, which would blast over the tape recorder in our house when I was a kid in Pakistan," she reminisced.
Her first memory of watching his film was Haathi Mera Saathi. "I enjoyed it because of the love he had for animals and was furious at how cruel the leading lady was to him and jealous of his compassion and love for his elephant. Given I was five years old at the time and could not make the distinction between real life and a movie," she said.
She also recalls watching Anand. "I remember my mother crying profusely when Kaka ji dies in the end. When I was seven years old, my father organised a trip for my mom and me to visit Mumbai," said the former Bollywood actress.
"My dad was close friends with Dutt Saab’s manager, and he facilitated our visiting sets with Amit ji, Dharam ji, Rekha ji, and Kaka ji. So, I was lucky enough to meet him when I was seven and he invited mom and me to his house, Ashirwaad, for lunch," she shared. For her, the memory of that encounter is as vivid as if it happened yesterday.  She recalls telling Kaka ji at 7 years of age that when she grows up, she wants to marry him. "He laughed out loud of course, and my mom was shocked and somewhat embarrassed. He was a thorough gentleman and I believe there will never be a superstar like him in the history of Bollywood. That smile, the emotions, the romance and the music, no one can beat that," said Somy.  According to her, Souten, Roti, Red Rose, Anand, Bawarchi, and Amrit were amazing films.  She enjoyed watching pretty much anything with him and Mumtaz. "Their chemistry was phenomenal. Quite similar to that of Amit and Rekha Ji or Kajol and Shah Rukh," said the founder of No More Tears.

Souten and Bawarchi are two films of Rajesh Khanna that she has watched a number of times. "I love both the scripts and the messages they send to the world," she said.

Before sleeping, she watches Rajesh Khanna songs. "It's a nightly ritual. The strangest thing is that the day before he died, I was watching Kati Patang at night and I had a bad feeling that something was going to happen to him while I did not know that he was severely unwell. The next morning, I read of his passing in the newspaper and was bawling like a little kid," she said. On his birthday, Somy will rewatch Souten and Kati Patang along with tons of his songs.

Happy New Year: Celebs reveal how they plan to welcome 2022, and their New Year resolution

As we look forward to newness, adventure, and start over a new chapter in our lives in 2022, we also look back at the times gone by. The last year has been a roller coaster ride and we are hopeful that the next will be much better. And the one thing that everyone is hoping and praying for is the end of this devastating pandemic. Staying positive and strong is the mantra for 2022, according to celebrities. They talk about their plans for New Year's Eve, how they want to welcome 2022 and also share their New Year resolution:

Perneet Chauhan
I want to spend time with friends and family, cherish moments with people I love, stay home and stay safe. I want to welcome 2022 with “transformation” and celebrate new beginnings. I plan to be happy and positive next year no matter what. To do everything that brings me peace and joy. I want to work and travel a lot.

Nyrraa M Banerji
Well, as always I am going to be with my family on New Year’s Eve, celebrating.  We usually have a family lunch, and I also dine out with friends and then come back home on January 1, I want to wake up greeting my family. I have never really been out of the city or home during the 31st. Even if I have, I make sure on the 1st morning my mom wakes me up. I am thankful for all the good things and bad things that have happened throughout the year and I want to write down my wishes on the first day of next year and start working on it.
This time my resolution is to work harder, do a variety of roles and I also want to mentally prepare myself for love.

Salim Diwan
My plan is to enjoy New Year's Eve with my close friends at my farm house with lots of chit chat and delicious food. Although I am very busy with my shootings and all, I want to enjoy the time with my loved one and be happy. I want to welcome 2022 in a good and healthy way. As I am very health conscious, I will focus more and more on my gyming, exercise and do lots of work. My New Year's resolution is to keep peace and prosperity, health and spread love, and help those in need.

Somy Ali
On 31st, my only day off, I am typically in bed by 10 pm. With prayers that No More Tears (her Miami based NGO) is able to save many more lives. To save more lives and create a larger reach for NMT where we can save victims in many other states aside from just South of Florida is my New Year resolution.

Ssumier Pasricha
No new year plans, no party this year as I lost my grandmother, so I will be with my mom at home chilling. Plus the Delhi government has banned New Year’s parties, so the maximum I’ll have is one or two friends at home, we will have a bonfire and chill out. New Year is just another day for me and I am glad that 2021 ending on a happy note for me. My film Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui has got good reviews and my work got appreciated. I hope 2022 will be more positive and better for me and my family. And I also hope the world becomes mask free soon.

Aly Goni
Jasmin and I were planning to go to London to celebrate Christmas and ring in the New Year, but because of the omicron variant and rising number of cases, we have cancelled our plan. Now we will be going to Dubai for New Year. Our very close friends live there and celebrate with them. And as for Christmas, we all were in Mumbai and had a small get-together with our friends here.

Nidarshana Gowani
For New Year, I will be out of town but not out of the country due to Covid restrictions. I will be in Kashmir and then in Himachal Pradesh. I want to welcome the New Year in peace amid nature. My resolution for 2022 is to help more people, be positive and be happy.

Harshali Zine
l live a very unconventional and very disciplined life. I feel self-discipline is the highest form of self love. On the 31st evening I'm going to eat the healthiest dinner, meditate and sleep early so that I'm up and about all charged up to welcome the New Year. I'm already getting positive vibes from 2022. I will wake up before sunrise, go to the beach if it's allowed and welcome the New Year's sun and meditate. If going to the beach is prohibited I'll do the same in my society garden. I really don't wait for new years to make resolutions.  I set small goals almost every night for the next day and make sure I attain it to my fullest with ease and grace. And I'll continue doing this all my life. Taking one day at a time keeps me calm and at peace. No matter what, I won't compromise on my peace of mind and well-being to attain a goal. I follow this trinity of letting go, being in the flow and going with the flow. I'm just going to continue enjoying life to the fullest.

Herumb Khot reveals how doctors are involved in Dhadkan Zindaggi Kii

Dhadkan Zindaggi Kii co-producer Herumb Khot has shared how doctors are involved in almost every stage of making the show.

Dhadkan Zindaggi Kii is produced by Khot and Nilanjana Purkayasstha of Invictus T Mediaworks along with Studio Next.

"The show was in pre-production for over a year and we did very detailed research on the medical aspects. Every episode gets inputs from doctors on writing and shooting. They also watch the episodes before they are aired. Personal lives are depicted from our own observations about doctors. We both have doctors as friends and family, so a lot has been inspired by them," Khot said.

It is generating a lot of good responses, and the producers feel overwhelmed.

"The kind of nuances the audience is picking up on and the way they are appreciating multiple characters, it has blown our minds. This show has been a labor of love and we feel extremely happy that it is being appreciated," he said.

It is a finite series of 65 episodes. That is very rare on TV. "We go with the demands of the concept. Not every story can be stretched. Some shows have gone into 1000s of episodes and are still successful. It totally depends on the subject and the narrative," he explained

Rajeshwari Datta on her 'loving and protective mother' role in Vidrohi

Vidrohi actress Rajeshwari Datta plays Panthara Devi, whom she describes as a loving and protective mother

"I am playing Panthara Devi, who is Radhamani's mother. She is a loving and protective mother who can do anything for her daughter," she said about her role in the historical show.

According to her, it's not the usual historical show. "It's unique because of its main character, which is based on Jagabandhu, who was a great warrior of Orissa. All the historical serials we have seen were based on either Maharana Pratap, Shivaji, Akbar or Prithviraj. Every 2 to 3 years, serials are made on warriors, but this is a story of warrior Jagabandhu. Only a few people know about him, and this is a fresh story too. It is the story of Yodha of the native land of Orissa," she explained.

Initially, she was not ready to take up this role as she had not done this type of role. "I am more comfortable doing family drama, comedy and intense roles. But what happens is that when you play a different character, you have to see a new form of your personality because in every human being there is love, hate, anger and pride. While doing this role, I understood that I too have what this character needs," she said.

In the show, she has to look older than her age. "I never did such a getup or look before. It takes time, at least one and a half hours to get the make-up done," she said.

She likes her costumes. "It's my first experience. It takes time to get ready, but it's part of my job, so I'm loving it," she said. She gets several compliments, but the biggest one is when people start recognising her by the character name, Panthara Devi, and appreciate her work.

The show is produced by Subrat Sinha and Dr. Bodhisattva of Gaatha Productions. "I am loving working with Gaatha Production. There is a family atmosphere on set. Subrat Sinha Sir and Bodhisattva Sir are very nice and down to earth. Many times they come to meet actors to make us feel comfortable on the set," she said.

She feels that when a person goes on a new set, he or she feels awkward but if people are nice then all goes well. "By God's grace, my co-actors, director, producers are very good," she said.

Shooting for this kind of a show takes long and involves a lot of hard work. "This kind of a serial takes so much involvement and hard work. For me, this is the toughest role in my acting career. Before this serial, I had done comedy in Jamai Raja, a negative role in Tujhse Raabta and an intense and emotional role in Meri Hanikarak Biwi," she said.

Many times she refused doing mythology and historical serials because she never felt confident in conversing in different languages.  "This time my fiance Rohit Mehta suggested me to accept such roles. He said that I am a very good actor. Anyway, when you take challenges in life, whether it is your career or personal life, you definitely grow, she said.

Smriti Kashyap on the cast and crew of Vidrohi: Everyone is cooperative, fun loving and hard working… they are like family

Smriti Kashyap plays the role of Chitralekha, Queen of Khurda, in Subrat Sinha and Dr. Bodhisattva’s Vidrohi. As a queen, Chitralekha, according to Smriti, is extremely proud of her beauty and holds herself in a high pedestal.

“Chitralekha’s sensuality is countered by her lack of intelligence. She is mostly discontent with her lifestyle and always looking out for more luxury and comforts even at the cost of the state’s interest. She feels wronged by the turn of events that have led to the downfall of the state and feels she deserves her queen-hood in all its glory. She is waiting for the fortune to return along with the Jagannath Temple. Chitralekha is also petty and scheming. She is married to King of Khurda,” she continues, “After so many years Star Plus has come up with a historical drama and the making, attire, artists everything is on point. The show is looking totally different and beautiful.”

Talking about her look, which is totally different in the show, Smriti says that Chitralekha is the only one who likes to wear lots of jewelleries and ornaments. “She really likes to dress up like a true-blue Odisha queen. So the saree draping is very different and time taking because it’s typical Odisha style draping. It almost takes me 1 to 1.5 hours to get ready. But yes, I love my costumes. It makes me beautiful and confident. I remember how Sharad Malhotra (who plays Buxi Jagabandhu) complimented Mukund and told us how we are looking like real king and queen,” she shares.

The vibes on the set are positive and happy. “Everyone is cooperative, fun-loving and hard-working, especially our director sir (name). He sometimes makes the aura so comfortable and stress-free. The co-artists are like family and they know how to help each other. Playing characters from historical shows is more difficult and different from regular shows. The body language and dialogues are totally different. And to get ready for a certain character takes too much time. We need to adapt to the knowledge, character, and culture. Presenting and executing show stories are also difficult,” adds the actor.

About working with Gatha Productions and both the producers, she says, “Working with them is super fun. Both the producers are always there to guide us. The production people are hard-working and joyful. They specify shooting styles to ensure studio sets don’t just look the part but can deliver the right content to the viewers.”

Mayank Arora: Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai has been one of the biggest breaks in my career… Rajan Shahi is a magician of television

Mayank Arora aka Kairav in Rajan Shahi’s Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai (YRKKH) says the new track in the show has clicked really well with masses and the classes. The actor feels amazing getting all the love and adoration from the viewers.

“Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai has been one of the biggest breaks in my career and to be a part of one of India’s longest-running hit shows is a blessing itself. Rajan sir has really given it a good spin, and as I always say ‘He is a magician of television’. As an audience I would say that I love the show, it has the drama which the viewers need and enjoy,” he says. Talking about the best compliment he has got for your performance, Mayank adds, “The best compliments would be, ‘We all should have a brother like Kairav’, you are ‘the best brother in the world’. These compliments keep me motivated to do more and give the best I can as a performer.”  The look and feel of the show is being appreciated by the audiences for its authenticity and how it highlights the intricacies of relationships. “The show has a very fresh look with an easy-breezy feel, which viewers love to see. I, myself, enjoy the show so much and the importance it gives to the relationships is what we all connect with instantly as such things are real and relatable,” he ends.

Roshni Kapoor excited about The Rage’s OTT release: We finished the film that has a message for LGBT community amid challenges, hope viewers will like it

Roshni Kapoor starring in "The Rage - Over Injustice" that went to Cannes Film Festival is all set to release on OTT. The actor who plays an NRI girl in the film is happy with the development.

The story revolves around how she is determined to fight against the unjust circumstances that befall her friends and herself through the pursuit of uplifting and empowering the LGBT community.

The Rage is produced by RR ENTERTAINMENT & HAUTE MANMZEL. It is directed by Anuj Sharma; Anik R Verma of Gully Boy, Special 26 fame is the cinematographer and production house is Iconic Productions Pvt. Ltd by Mohammad Nagman Lateef.

“The film was shot in Goa, Pune and Dubai. The experience of shooting the film was wonderful. Since we shot during April when the Corona situation was not favourable, we went to an island in Goa. We used to carry food and only about six hours we used to get for the shoot as the island was surrounded by goons and Bootleggers. So after 8pm we weren't allowed to stay there. There was no network coverage there. We faced several challenges including my major knee injury, insect and mosquito bites, heat strokes, skin burns etc but we completed the film the way we wanted,” she shares.

The film is expected to release next month. The film is suitable for all age groups alike and also says a lot about the LGBT community. The actor-producer hopes that people will enjoy watching the film that also stars actors Adnan Khan and Aditya Khurana.

Sharing her prep for the character, she adds, “I didn't get much time to prepare... When I met Mohammed Nagman Lateef (Iconic Productions Pvt Ltd) he told me about this role, I loved the concept. We were worried about the rise in Covid cases so we decided to finish the film soon. Even when we started, some of the cast members tested positive and we had to replace them. But our Director knew how to get the best out of us.”

Roshni, who is also a successful influencer and brand endorser, does not have a formal training in acting; she learned on the job.

“I realised when I’m facing the camera, I’ve to leave my real personality behind. When you are shooting, you’re only an actor and have to do your job. I’ve given my best and there are many times wherein one take, the shot was finalised. I remember while shooting a scene when I had mud smeared on my face, a fan asked for a photo after the shot and I felt embarrassed, given my condition,” she laughs again.

So who inspired her to take up acting? “I would give credit to Mohammad. We met at one of his award functions and he suggested if I would do a movie for Cannes for a good cause. I told him that I’m not into acting, tho

ugh I’d got many offers. He told me to make a movie that works as a message for people. I'm glad I listened to him and took up this opportunity,” ends the actor. The poster was recently launched at the International Iconic awards 2021 and will be releasing at a big OTT platform.

Avinash Mukherjee: I try to keep it real on social media because real life is what matters, and it will matter forever

Avinash Mukherjee’s idea of love is something that is pure, and it means the world to him. The Sasural Simar Ka 2 actor thinks every living human being needs a longing and bond, there is no single creature on earth who can survive without love.

Love means different things to different people at different stages of life. “Yes, not just romantic love but human love too, love for general humanity is very important. And I feel social media has made things very picturesque and created an obnoxiously crazy high standard for nothing. The lines between the real and virtual have blurred. And we can’t just blame social media, we have also been party to this change. We have to keep our mindset clear, remember that it is just pictures which are printed or the videos which are being made to showcase something and it’s not necessarily a reflection of what exactly is going on. So yes, I also try to keep it real on social media because real life is what matters, and it will matter forever,” he adds.

Even if one falls in love, giving time becomes an issue these days. “Time is really a concern given the kind of fast lifestyle we are leading. But if the love and dedication are genuine, your family, friends and soulmate will understand,” he says adding that, unlike some, he does not think that love is an illusion, but it’s just one’s mindset and viewpoint, and how they look at it.

It is often said that celebrities are always chasing fame, and don't find love. But Avinash does not agree. He adds, “No I don’t think so. We all are humans. Celebrities’ life is just public and that’s why it’s just most scrutinised, but I feel the definition is different for different kinds of people. Whether someone gets love or not has got nothing to do with their profession.”

Himansh Kohli: I take a lot of short breaks, whenever possible… I take my work as the most fun part of my day, so I never feel like I'm grinding

Himansh Kohli likes summers and winters alike. But, given a chance, he would give a few extra marks to winters as during this season one can layer up and wear heavy outfits which otherwise one doesn’t even dare to wear during summers.

“Also, I'm a hot drinks person and they are relished the most during winters. So the cold season wins by a few points. I also feel Mumbai gets better weather during winters and becomes an ideal place to be in. But, I like slightly harsh weather and glad I got to spend this year's winters in Dehradun where I'm shooting for Boondi Raita. I love the winters because everything is a little cozier during this season,” says the Yaariyan actor.

For Himansh, London is the place to be during winters. “I even like staying at my home in Dubai during this season. It’s really beautiful there. I feel most comfortable there as it's my second home. In India, I love to visit the mountains and places like Uttarakhand and Himachal. I make spontaneous plans with my friends and family, and head to these places,” he shares.

People in the entertainment industry hardly get long holidays. “Therefore I take a lot of short breaks, whenever possible. Also, I take my work as the most fun part of my day, so I never feel like I'm working or grinding. I take long holidays in between projects whenever there is a window,” adds the actor.

And, what do you love to eat during winters? “I love all winter dishes, but my favourite is piping hot Gajar Ka Halwa made by my mum. Whenever someone comes from Delhi, my mum sends a casserole full of halwa for me. I also like Kesariya Malai doodh a lot and it is my go-to drink after a hot coffee during winters,” he shares.

Vandana Khandelwal: Goa is best place to relax and rejuvenate

Ab Tere Bina lyricist Vandana Khandelwal loves the "chill vibes" of Goa.Talking about her favourite getaway, she said, "Goa, forever, chill vibes, it's the best place to relax and rejuvenate."She plans quick getaways with family and friends whenever possible. "Sometimes when I am travelling for shoot I pre-plan an extended stay in and around that city," she said.

She recently visited Kashmir and was completely awestruck by its beauty and serenity. She loves the winter season, cosy bonfires, good food, and the festival mood from Christmas to New Year."I miss the winter food in Mumbai. Back home we used to have sarso ka saag, makke ki roti, matar ki kachori...there's a whole list," she said.

She also loves rainfall. "It gives me so much peace," she shared.

When Simaran Kaur styled her own bridal avatar for Aggar Tum Na Hote’s wedding track

Zee TV recently launched a romantic drama - Aggar Tum Na Hote, that encapsulates the love story of Niyati Mishra (essayed by Simaran Kaur), who is a young, hard-working nurse, and Abhimanyu Pandey (essayed by Himanshu Soni), who is a charming, rich yet seemingly normal young man dealing with mental instability. Showcasing the extent to which a nurse goes to treat her patient, Aggar Tum Na Hote has managed to inspire viewers to love beyond boundaries. While the show seems to have already won the viewers’ hearts, it’s the new look of Niyati as a bride that will leave them spellbound pretty soon.

In the upcoming track, Simaran Kaur a.k.a Niyati will be seen taking up a bridal avatar as she prepares to get married to Dr. Anand (Tushar Chawla). At the same time, Abhimanyu will come to know about his bygone marriage with Niyati and while he wants to stop the wedding, he acts like a gentleman and drops Niyati at the altar. He leaves soon after, but as the shaadi starts, Niyati realises that she is actually in love with Abhimanyu. She runs from the mandap, only to find him unconscious at Dr. Gupta’s clinic. He gets him back to the mandap; however, it will be interesting to see what follows next. While the wedding track will keep everyone at the edge of their seats, looks like Simaran was over the moon about turning into a beautiful bride on the small screen, even though she had to wear a very heavy lehenga.

During the shoot, the actress looked gorgeous in a maroon lehenga, embellished with silver details and embroidery to match the Kundan jewelry that she wore. While she had a gala time shooting and dressing up for this sequence, looks like she also had her own style inputs for her bridal look in Aggar Tum Na Hote.

As Simaran Kaur revealed, “I was ecstatic when I was told about the wedding sequence. Every girl loves to dress up and getting an opportunity to play and dress up as a bride is really fantastic. In fact, I was even more kicked about the sequence because the lehenga they chose for me looked amazing, it was actually something I would personally love wearing too! I really couldn’t wait for the wedding sequence to happen, as I got to choose the beautiful ornaments that would go with my marvelous lehenga. for the hair and make-up as well, I gave a few style suggestions to the whole team, and they incorporated it into my look. I really loved my overall bridal avatar, and my parents were surprised to see me in such a look. I must mention, that while the whole sequence was really intense, I enjoyed every bit of it. It was a challenge, to move around with such a heavy lehenga, but it was worth it. I am sure the upcoming dramatic sequences will keep everyone at the edge of their seats, and I hope they shower us with a lot of love and appreciation for the hard work we are putting in.

While Niyati’s beautiful look will leave you mesmerised, wait till you witness the drama that will unfold in the upcoming episodes of Aggar Tum Na Hote.

To know more, stay tuned to Aggar Tum Na Hote every Monday to Friday at 10:30 pm, only on Zee TV

Pragati Mehra: Working on a daily soap does not one can’t travel for pleasure or get to meet loved ones ever, that's a ridiculous thought

Winter is Pragati Mehra’s favourite season. The Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai actor says that she is someone who ends up sweating a lot when it’s hot and humid, but during winters she feels much better. It is the time when she soaks in all the sun, can wear jackets, boots and enjoy the weather.

“Mumbai gets no winters, at best, it’s pleasant. But the chill in the air is much better than all the humidity for sure, sad that it doesn’t stay here for long. Kashmir is my all-time favourite holiday destination. Laplands comes a close second. I enjoy travelling during winters,” she says.

People in the entertainment industry hardly get to enjoy long holidays. Things are more difficult for those doing daily soaps.

Pragati points out, “Impromptu getaways aren't really possible when shooting but you can always plan things out.  If you let the production house know about your travel plans in advance then things can be worked out, because if one is part of a successful long-running show, you have to understand a few things. At the same time working on a daily soap does not one can’t travel for pleasure or get to meet loved ones ever. That's a ridiculous thought.”

The actor favourite short getaways include Landour in Uttarakhand. She usually takes a direct flight to Dehradun from Mumbai, and then there is this amazing two-hour drive that takes her to the destination. “But that's not really a winter destination, though the weather is very pleasant during this season,” she shares.

What do you love to eat during winters? “Winters are for eating! Morning sun and gluttony go hand-in-hand! And I am if in the hills, a walk in any of the trails works absolutely fine!  Then there are ‘pahadon wali Maggie’ and ‘ginger lemon tea’ that taste just wonderful. Childhood memory is of stuffing our school blazer pockets with roasted peanuts, and keep munching till the last period, every single day, till you get caught of course,” she laughs.

Rohit Purohit: When I started doing Dhadkan Zindaggi Kii, it was difficult to get the medical terms correct, make dealings with patients look authentic

Rohit Purohit: When I started doing Dhadkan Zindaggi Kii, it was difficult to get the medical terms correct, make dealings with patients look authentic

Rohit Purohit is enjoying his stint in Nilanjana Purkayasstha and Herumb Khot’s Dhadkan Zindaggi Kii.  The actor, who plays the role of Vikrant Saxena in this medical drama, produced by Invictus T Mediaworks and Studio Next, shares that he finds the title of the show apt.

“The title, much like the show, is relatable. Since this is a medical drama based on the life of doctors and their struggles, sacrifices and contribution to society, the title goes with the theme. Vikrant, my character in the show, is that of a very egoistic man. He is in love with doctor Deepika (Additi Gupta) but again he has different demands from life, as his upbringing has taught him that men are superior than women and that men are always a step ahead of women. So while he kind of believes in all that, Vikrant also goes with the flow of society. He is very ambitious and is one of the top surgeons of the country. His transformation is very interesting,” says the actor.

Rohit adds that he does not relate much to Vikrant. “I have never had this thought that men are superior to women as I've seen many strong women in my life, be it my mom, my wife and many others and I know what they can do. But yes, I’m ambitious like Vikrant is,” he says.

The show is based on doctors and it’s quite thrilling for an actor to play someone from the medical profession on screen, shares Rohit.

“It’s intriguing and thrilling. When I started working on Dhadkan… it was not easy, unlike some of my earlier shows here things have to be kept quite natural and subtle. It had to look like we’re doctors and not actors who are playing the role of doctor’s, so basically it was challenging, medical terms were difficult, also how dealing with a patient needs to look authentic etc were tough. Whenever we see a doctor we feel ki yeh insaan nahi hote hai kya? Inhey kisi cheez ka farak nahi padta kya? But, they do get affected and worried but they don’t show it in front of the patient. They have to keep themselves strong and that is the challenge playing such characters,” he adds.

Praising the show maker duo Herumb and Nilanjana, Rohit shares that his experience of working with them has always been fabulous.

“I have worked with Nilanjana ma’am and Herumb sir earlier as well and I really feel blessed that I’m working with them again. They are very creative and also give us our creative freedom. It’s my third show with Nilanjana ma’am, I did Chandragupt Maurya and Dil Toh Happy Hai Ji with her. Even this time around, in between, she kept offering me other projects but it didn’t work out for some or the other reasons. It’s always a pleasure working with her,” he ends.

Zee TV actors get nostalgic as they get ready to celebrate Christmas

The festival of lights that brings happiness and prosperity to everyone’s life is here once again and looks like our Zee TV actors are kicked about celebrating Christmas this time around as well. In fact, most of them got nostalgic while speaking about this festive season. Remembering their fondest memories of the occasion, Zee TV actors Avinesh Rekhi from Tere Bina Jiya Jaye Na, Parull Chaudhry and Akash Chaudhary from Bhagya Lakshmi, Venkatesh Pande from Kashibai Bajirao Ballal, and Akshita Mudgal from Iss Mod Se Jaate Hain opened up about their plans for Christmas this year.

Simaran Kaur who plays the role of Niyati in Zee TV’s Aggar Tum Na Hote reveals "I like everything about Christmas, the decorations, carols, vibe, sweets, plum cake and of course Santa Claus. I celebrate Christmas with my family by decorating my home with special lights. I even go to a church and go shopping with my mom for my Christmas present. I have studied in a Christian school named Mater Dei in New Delhi, so since childhood Christmas has been one of my favorite festivals, the celebrations were absolutely wonderful in my school. My fondest memory to date has been that I played the role of Santa's reindeer "Rudolph" and we performed carols with my friends and teachers. I wish to Santa that he makes our world COVID-free so that everyone can enjoy the Christmas festival happily with their loved ones."

Avinesh Rekhi who plays the role of Devraj in Zee TV's Tere Bina Jiya Jaye Na mentions, "My fondest memory of Christmas is the time when I had gone to Germany with my extended family, especially for the festive celebrations in the country. It was so much fun because for the first time I had actually celebrated the festival for the whole week, right from buying the Christmas tree to decorating it to calling our friends over at home and exchanging gifts and whatnot. On Christmas Eve, the whole city was lit up, and people were enjoying the day like there was no tomorrow. It's just like how we celebrate Diwali in India. This year I haven't planned anything as such, but I might be going for a quick getaway to a place nearby. Probably for New Year, we will have a house party at my place too, where I'll be calling all my friends and maybe, the cast of Tere Bina Jiya Jaye Na. So, this festive season will be all about celebrations with family and friends."

Akash Choudhary who plays the role of Viraj in Zee TV’s Bhagya Lakshmi adds, For me, Christmas is the year-end and it's time for celebration. As a kid, I remember we used to decorate our classrooms and boards. I really miss that. Nowadays, this festive period is all about meeting friends. But the thing I love the most about Christmas is the Plum cake that my friends make. Since I was a kid, I have been in love with plum cakes as well as the annual tradition of decorating our pine tree and our home with lights. I also enjoy the games we play, especially Secret Santa. This year, I wish all the street dogs could get a home or some good food. I am a major dog lover and I feel sad when I see street dogs. While I will be doing something for them, I hope this festive season, people across the country could also extend their love and support to these furry beings.”

Parull Chaudhary who plays the role of Karishma in Zee TV’s Bhagya Lakshmi mentions, “I really love the whole Christmas feel and vibe, it automatically starts as soon we enter the month of December. I love the atmosphere and the weather too. However, I feel the best part about Christmas is the decor, markets, and cafe. Bandra in Mumbai becomes so beautiful during Christmas. This year, I wish everyone enjoys the celebrations responsibly and stays safe during the festival.”

Venkatesh Pande who plays the role of Bajirao in Zee TV’s Kashibai Bajirao Ballal mentions, “Every year, I spend a lot of time with my family and friends during Christmas. It’s like a mini-vacation for me, where I go out for outings and dinner with my friends and family. I remember, during school, we also used to have a Christmas party where Santa used to come and give all of us chocolates! However, this time around, I will be shooting for Kashibai Bairao Ballal, hence I might not be able to go out, but will surely celebrate it with the cast and crew of the show. I would also like to wish Santa to help make our show even more successful during this festive season as we’re working round the clock to entertain all our viewers.”

Akshita Mudgal who plays the role of Paragi Parashar in Zee TV’s Iss Mod Se Jaate Hain reveals, “I really love the vibe of Christmas as it's very pure and beautiful. I remember during my childhood I used to keep a wishlist under my pillow during Christmas and used to think that Santa will come late-night and gift us something. I also used to celebrate the festival with my family and friends by bringing a pine tree and decorating it as well as my house. Those days were so good. I wish this year, everyone has a good, peaceful, and Merry Christmas.”

I called my friends in the building and asked them to vacate immediately: Aman Maheshwari when his building caught fire

Bade Achhe Lagte Hain" season 2 actor Aman Maheshwari faced one of the most frightful situations of his life on December 24. While everyone was gearing up for the Christmas eve celebration, the young actor was dumbfounded when he saw a flat of his building, Neminath Avenue, on fire. Luckily, he was stepping out for something at that time but he did call up his friends to warn them.

He said, "I was going out for something and I could hear a lot of noises but there is some construction work happening on the top floor of my building so I thought it must be because of that. Then my flatmate called me and informed me about the fire in the building. He asked me to vacate the building immediately. I saw people running towards the emergency exit. Unfortunately, the fire alarm also didn't work."

"It was very alarming for everyone and I was just worried if any of my friends were still there in the building. I have three friends in the building and I called them and told them that if they are in the building they need to vacate immediately," Aman added.

Fortunately, there were no casualties and everyone got out safely on time.  On the work front, Aman is currently seen in the second season of "Bade Acche Lagte Hain" where he plays the role of Neeraj.

Ravii Dubey turned a year older on Thursday, 23rd December. He threw a bash to celebrate the birthday and 100 million views of Matsya Kaand. Ravii looked dashing and lean as always . Ravii and Sargun Mehta  played the perfect host. A lot of people from the entertainment industry were present including Karan Wahi, Karan Patel,  Producer Ramesh Taurani, Piyush Mishra, Nia Sharma and Asha Negi.  Ravii Dubey does everything in a stylish way and this classy party was a classic example

Hemal Dev: Kalyani is an extremely fearless person, while I’m a delicate darling… while portraying the part, I’m learning a lot from her

Hemal Dev plays the role of Kalyani in Subrat Sinha and Dr. Bodhisattva’s hit production Vidrohi. The actor shares the layered character is that of a warrior princess.

“Kalyani is a very strong character, and that’s what I love about her the most. She's a very our today's girl, doesn't believe in patriarchy and prefers breaking stereotypes. Kalyani does get emotional but she works her way through her emotions and in many ways ‘Aaj ki Naari’. About how much I relate to Kalyani, then I must say that we are different and I’ve learnt a lot from her. She is an extremely fearless person in terms of physicality, while I’m a delicate darling (smiles). I'm a person who doesn’t like too much adventure. A good idea for a holiday would always be a beach and not a mountain. So that says a lot about who I am,” she says.

Calling Vidrohi as a different kind of a show having good content, Hemal adds that such period dramas often have different insights as they talk about different times. She also finds it fun to shoot in terms of the kind of costumes one wears, how the sets look and the language used by the characters.

“It’s a very challenging show and our makers definitely deserve huge credit in making it so authentic. It is sort of a biopic on Buxi Jagabandhu (Sharad Malhotra), an unsung Hero. It feels good to be able to share the story of this daring freedom fighter who gave the British sleepless nights during the freedom struggle,” she adds.

Talking about the look and costumes in the show, Hemal shares that costumes for period pieces are always interesting. “We're talking about the early 19th century . I am thankful to my makeup, hair and costume team. They are good and get me ready within 40 minutes. Costumes are fun but it's a very tough job honestly to handle the kind of costumes that I wear. And it only makes me respect women of that century all the more. Heavy embroidery, jewellery etc is difficult to carry, forget the itching that happens. Costumes that Kalyani or Buxi Jagabandhu or Radhamani (Sulagna Panigrahi) wear are unique but difficult to flaunt,” she explains.

The best compliment that she has got for Kalyani is that the character is an inspiration for the young women of today. “People loved the scene where after I have conquered the mountain, I am standing at the top while the red satin dupatta attached around my waist flies high. That scene showcases women's power and strength. Many found that scene beautiful and inspiring,” she shares.

Showering praises on Gaatha Productions and the producers, Hemal says that the journey so far has been wonderful. “My producers are very new and extremely compassionate towards the cast and crew. They are very passionate too. When it's your first baby, it’s always special. Subrat Sinha Sir and Bodhisattva ji motivates us and are always there for everyone. Shooting this kind of a huge production that requires special costumes, set, look and feel is not an easy job. The props and assets are also different from a regular daily soap and the entire team is careful to make things run smooth. Things are working well because we work in coordination and take care of each other like family,” says the actor.

Nyrraa M Banerji: Love is a state of mind

Rakshabandhan: Rasaal Apne Bhai Ki Dhaal actress Nyrraa M Banerji has shared her idea of love.

"Love is a state of mind. What happens with a person is the attachment which again comes with pleasure and pain leading it to emotional highs and lows. My idea of love is not “falling in love”  where pain and pleasure are constant. My idea of love is “rising in love “ where both partners only want to push and support each other to do better and better," she said.

For her, to succeed and to be happy in each other’s successes and achievements are important.

"Love is supposed to give you power to excel in the world, not bind you and make you feel dependent on each other. Trust, commitment, and respect are my kind of love. Loyalty will follow because your feelings would be beyond physical attraction. Love is a magical and spiritual feeling where you know you can conquer the world because you have a partner who’s a huge support," she said.

According to her, different definitions like romantic and platonic to the term love have been given by us.

"Love is a state of mind, and you spread the feeling of compassion for everyone, be it partners, friends, strangers or animals, every living being for that matter. Compassion is the biggest form of love," she said.

Asked if she feels the way social media has blurred the lines between real and fake, it's become hard to find love, she said, "Social media is just a platform where people want to show their natural side or their alter ego. It’s still your own side because it’s yours. Honestly, I think every human being has a human being for themselves destined. You just gotta be clear about what and who you want to attract. Become that person you want to attract. Detox mentally, physically, emotionally and only focus on what you want in your partner. The universe will find and make things happen for you."

Even if one falls in love, sometimes giving time becomes an issue. "Giving time is not an issue. You've got to learn to manage the time!  When there is love, and you are mentally, emotionally connected, no matter how far or how busy you are, you will manage to find the time," she said.

According to her, love is an illusion for those who do not understand the true meaning of love.

"Love is the “acceptance of a person”... the way we love our family members in any condition because we have acceptance. Love is a state of bliss. When you are happy, you feel you are in love. The moment you are detached, you feel love is no more. Love could be a very magical experience or it could just be realizing that our feelings may not be magical with anyone but you know you want to spend your life with someone happily," she said.

She doesn't think that celebrities are always chasing name and fame, and they don't find any love. "We work for 12 hours, that's the nature of our business, it's the pattern of our schedule. We do not have a choice to simply drop a project because a lot of people are assigned. We crave for love. After long hours at work, we want our humans to be around, be it our family or a partner, a husband or a wife whom we can just hug and feel at home. We spend so much time on the set with the same people we do not get the chance to explore to find love. That’s why a lot of co-stars get married and fall in love too," she said.

Versatile Film & Television actor ‘Kanwarjit Paintal’ aka Paintal to play a pivotal role in Star Plus’ upcoming show ‘Kabhi Kabhie Ittefaq Sey’

Star Plus is all set to bring forth a new show ‘Kabhi Kabhie Ittefaq Sey’ that is focused on a story situated in the City of Nawabs - Lucknow. Along with Yesha Rughani (Gungun) and Manan Joshi (Anubhav) who will be seen in lead roles, the makers are all set to bring about the most celebrated actors on TV together for this show. One of many such cast members happens to be the acclaimed, legendary, and evergreen actor ‘Kanwarjit Paintal’ aka Paintal Ji who has contributed immensely to the Film & Television industry in the past few decades. This veteran actor will now soon be seen essaying a pivotal role in the show as Charudutt (Tayaji of Anubhav – the hero of the story).

Having been in the industry for 51 years now, we’ve watched Paintal Ji shine on screen, alongside the likes of Rajesh Khanna, Amitabh Bachchan, Raaj Kumar, Randhir Kapoor, Shatrughan Sinha, so on and so forth. An adept actor who has mastered his craft on both, the big as well as the small screen and as someone who has acted in more than 140 films and 17 TV shows in all, the actor is only expected to make the show even bigger and better. To still be so passionate about his art / love for acting at the age of 73 is not something we often see. Given his unmatched talent and dedication towards everything he takes up, we are all set to be mesmerized with what he has to offer, yet again. The brilliant actor is expected to be playing a pivotal role on the show and we cannot wait to watch him do his thing!

Speaking of his role on the show, actor Kanwarjit Paintal says, “The moment I read the script, I knew I wanted to be a part of this show. The show brings along this unique calming vibe that most of us need in the times we live in. It is a lively piece of art that people of all age groups will enjoy. I play the lead’s Tayaji on the show and my character has so much to offer that sometimes it gets overwhelming as an actor to portray so much at once. Nevertheless, I am loving the role and I relate to the character.”

He further adds, “Even if I am having a hard day, shooting for the show automatically lightens my mood and I for one, truly value that about the show. My co-actors are all extremely talented and watching them put their hundred percent into their craft every day only makes me happier. They have always respected me and asked for advice when it comes to performing better and I have always been so happy to share my expertise. My role on the show is quite the important one and I have tried my best to be able to essay it with utter perfection so, I hope the audience makes the character their own and showers the kind of love they’ve forever showered. I am looking forward to the show airing and I hope so is everybody else.”

The show is the remake of the Bengali show ‘Khorkuto’ which is penned by the well-known writer Leena Gangopadhyay and the makers of the show are the same as the makers of the hit Star Plus show ‘Ghum Hai Kisikey Pyaar Meiin’. Given all of the above-mentioned facts, the show is worth a watch so!

Fasten your seat belts to go on a joyous ride with ‘Kabhi Kabhie Ittefaq Sey’ as it will be the first TV show launching in the New Year 2022

Look back 2021: Celebrities on two trends they have noticed in Showbiz

Look back 2021: Celebrities on two trends they have noticed in Showbiz

As the year is coming to an end and 2022 is just round the corner, celebrities take a look back at how the past year has been. They talk about the new trends that they noticed in the entertainment industry in 2021, and how that has affected them or the industry in general. Here’s what they said:

Nishant Malkhani: The two trends that I have noticed is that people are making shows on subjects that are a reflection of the society and the audience is loving it. We don't get to see high on drama romantic shows or saas-bahu sagas. Shows like Anupamaa, and Rakshabandhan… show more on women empowerment, real life issues rather than love stories. Like in Anupamaa we saw a middle-aged mother's struggle to achieve her dreams and become an independent woman. In Rakshabandhan…, we are showing the strong bond between a brother and how they always have each other’s back. Then the second trend is that everyone is enjoying subtle comedies like Tarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashma, Bhabiji Ghar par Hai! etc. People switch to television for relief and enjoyment, they don't have to see dramatic stressful stuff.

Sharad Malhotra: Love triangles are in, be it Anupamaa or Vidrohi, a lot of shows have love triangles in the story and audiences like the relationship drama they create. People have started watching daily soaps and OTT more, one of the reasons is that a lot of people have worked from home and stayed at home more in the past two years. Secondly, I feel age is no bar for the protagonists now. There are shows that have been made on middle-aged women as well as middle-aged couples.

Jasmin Bhasin: In 2021, music videos became a boon for actors. It gives an opportunity to explore good music and on-screen romance via songs in beautiful locations, and it builds a strong connection with the audience. The second is that we are exploring a wide variety of content and that is being loved by the audience.

Vijayendra Kumeria : The 2 trends that I have noticed in TV are bad guys getting by the female protagonists in different ways and love triangles… these are two trends that do occur in most of the shows, and viewers do enjoy the plots which have these elements. Maybe its interesting for them to watch the right person winning in the end of the whole process of drama.

Reyen Eyes: 2021 has been a year full of art. People have had the time to check out so much content across platforms. OTTs, YouTube, short video sharing apps, require a different amount of task force and resources but the viewership runs parallel with the seriousness of the art. Newcomers are welcome more than ever in the film and music industry. The newer generation is appreciating new faces, who are perfectly cast, and singers, who are serving the truth in the form of music. This shift is empowering many out there to become independent and create an opportunity instead of waiting for one. Another trend is that brands are collaborating with budding creators to encourage authenticity. We might say that the Indian youth has modernized itself in terms of fashion and entertainment to the contemporary world. The choice of lifestyle has upgraded and new trends are picking up by the day. Women have an active participation or may we say, there is nothing found complete without their touch.

Ranaksh Rana :First is the post-pandemic effect on opportunities. A lot of interesting projects are coming up and the audience is appreciating diverse characters and their varied styles of acting. Good craft is in demand. Hence more and more new talent is getting chances. Secondly the OTT effect. Indian content is more than ever consumed by a global audience and appreciated both at home and abroad. You have so many options across different genres and the audience has the choice to decide what to watch.

Delnaaz Irani :One most important change is that earlier the protagonists definitely were in the bracket of 20s or younger, then there was a phase that was all about child artists. Today we have an interesting phase where we have strong women leading from the front. There are a lot of women empowerment happening in shows, and women above 40 are getting lead roles. That’s a very positive change. Also, the fact that TV is also making good shows, and not just introducing out-and-out negative characters just to add drama and grab eyeballs. Audiences are asking for anything that is real and relatable. It’s not about that too-much and unnecessary drama. I also feel that the audiences have also become open, accepting and receptive of experiments and new things.

Simple Kaul :All I know is that the trend has changed, people watch more realistic shows and content that is relatable, makes them aware and think. The audience is scattered from TV to web, so the small screen needs to buck up is something that I feel.

Nupur Joshi- Last three years have seen a paradigm shift in the way the content is created and viewed. The primacy of the story as a lead has seen a meteoric rise . The younger generation has lead the way by pushing the envelope, and the established actors & creators have adapted to this new wave. The rise of web series and OTT platforms provide creative freedom , which enables such a shift .

What Delnaaz Irani liked about her co-star Yesha Rughani

Actress Delnaaz Irani will be soon seen in a pivotal role in the new show ‘Kabhi Kabhie Ittefaq Sey’. The shooting of the show has started and it features Manan Joshi and Yesha Rughani in lead roles.

Though Delnaaz and Yesha have not started shooting together but they have bonded nicely while shooting for the promo. Speaking about that Delnaaz says,”Yesha’s character will soon get married to my nephew and I will be her aunt in law so there's some time before we shoot together. But when we met for the shooting of our promo we gelled so well. Yesha is a sweet dedicated actress and I am looking forward to shooting with her more in coming days. So there will be more Gujju food, masti and chat on the set.
I also had a great time with Manan. I guess we all connected on the Gujrathi stuff. It’s an interesting show with a great ensemble cast and we are hoping all the characters will get lot of love from the audience.”  Kabhi Kabhi Itefaq Sey  will go on air from 3rd January on Star Plus.

Vaishalee Thakkar love winters: The season is all about food, festivities and music

Everyone has their favourite season. For Saath Nibhaana Saathiya 2 actor Vaishalee Thakkar, she enjoys both winter and monsoon.

“Winter means fun. There are many festivals during this time. Diwali is also kind of the beginning of winter, and during December there are holidays for Christmas, New Year. When going outdoors, winters are always pleasant. When the season changes, everything about the place, the mornings are so different, the food is so delicious and because of that, the whole experience of the season is so beautiful. When you go to Gujarat during winters, you are served Chai and Pok (green jowar). I just love this combination along with pepper sev and sugar. Also, Undhiyu is another delicacy from Gujarat that I love to have during winter. While shooting in Punjab I gorged on aloo ke paranthe dipped in butter, milk and malai for breakfast. Their hospitality and warmness makes you have. Their jiggery treats are also famous. Even the kada prasad that you get from Gurdwaras tastes heavenly during winters. They rightly say that the season is all about food, festivities, and music,” she adds.

Agreeing that Mumbai does not get winters, she shares “Two or three days people can be seen wearing sweaters, or else Mumbai is quite warm. There is a joke that people wear sweaters in Mumbai if it is cold in Delhi… Right now all the shoots are happening in Naigaon and the road journey is really amazing as it is so beautiful and misty in the morning. The drive is amazing, because I live in Dadar and travel all the way to Naigaon and it becomes hectic, but winter mornings are refreshing and beautiful.”

The entertainment industry usually doesn't get long holidays, given their busy schedules. Vaishalee who doesn’t enjoy short getaways, therefore plans his vacation in advance.

“I don't like short holidays because there is this constant pressure of getting back to work. If I have a long shoot then I never take a break, after I wind up, I take a two month break and I jet off to some place. The place I mostly visit is America as a lot of my maternal side of the family stay there. I also visit family, relatives and friends and relatives in Gujarat,” she reveals.

Talking more about her winter favourite delicacies, she says, “Being a Gujarati, I love Undiyu. Every year, my sister, who lives in Surat, sends us the green veggies that are required to make Undhiyu. Falguna ben (clarify) always sends a huge pack and then we make it at home. We give it to our friends and organise an Undhiyu party. There is something called Khajali from Surat which is prepared with pepper, especially during winters. Then there is Gajak that I also get from Rajasthan. There are also Gunder Pak, dry fruit pak, meethi pak and so on. The best part of winter is that you get amazing vegetables and fresh salads and soups that me and my family enjoy for dinner.”
