Himanshu Soni is not just putting extra effort to make sure his character Abhimanyu in Jatin Sethi, Mahesh Pandey and Piyush Gupta’s production, Aggar Tum Na Hote looks relatable on screen but is also working rigorously behind the camera. The actor has been doing his own makeup.
“Abhimannyu is a raw character, and I don't think I require a lot of makeup to play that character. So the basics that are required I do that myself. I don't like much layering when it comes to makeup. The makeup artists also take a little bit of time and I don't waste my time. I feel like doing my makeup in 4-5 minutes and getting ready. The results are also looking good on screen, so I prefer doing my own makeup. In most shows, the makeup artists give me the looks, so after a week or 10 days, I do it on my own. It’s more convenient to do my own makeup,” he says.
He is also learning a few makeup techniques. “But men usually do not require much makeup. I feel that we should have a technique where we just apply cream and the whole makeup look is done. I think that girls require more techniques compared to us. Normally, the kind of makeup boys do is like a cakewalk for me. It's very simple and easy. Just put a base, little foundation, little base under eye, a bit of powder and it's just done,” he explains.
This is not the first time that Himanshu has done his own makeup. “I have done it for my shows, Ram Siya ke Luv Kush, Radha Krishna and Buddha. After a point of time I start doing my own makeup as it saves me time to read the scenes, rehearse and whenever the director calls me I am ready for my act,” he adds.
