Arslan Goni: OTT platforms evolved a lot in these past two years and it sort of helped the industry stay afloat

he last two years were not only tough for the entertainment industry, but it was tough for the entire world, says Arslan Goni. The Mystery Man actor explains that like every other industry, showbiz also suffered, but at least the latter had OTT.

“OTT platforms evolved a lot in these past two years and it sort of helped the industry stay afloat. Because people were sitting at home and had nothing else to do or anything new to watch on television, they were hooked on OTT. But of course only OTT won’t help, we need our cinemas, plays and TV shows to do well. We will sail through,” he says.

About the pros and cons of being a part of the entertainment industry, he adds, “If you're successful there are only pros (laughs). And the cons are that it takes a lot of time to achieve that success because it's not an easy industry to be in. Lot of time, effort, energy and hard work also isn’t enough, when luck sort of decides everything. As an artist, I also want my work to get recognised… This journey is of course special for me. I know things take time, it’s a long process, you meet a lot of people, you learn a lot of things but everything is worth the work you do. This world is both creative and democratic. The level of acceptance in this industry is a lot more about how you go about things, what your ideas and views are, how much hard work you can do etc.”

Till now, Arslan says that none of the projects he has done so far has made a mark in his career. He is still waiting for that one project. In fact, his next is very special to him, and hopes it will connect with the audience.

“My career goal is now that I need a good, excellent role because whatever work I've done so far I've realised that my artistic potential is much higher than that. There's someone who will trust me at some point of time. It will happen for sure. At the same time, I'm satisfied with the way my career is going. But obviously, the hunger is always for more. You want to do better. I treat every project as my first and last, try to make it exciting, for you never know what’s in store for tomorrow,” he shares.

Ask about the message he wants to give his fans and his goodbye note to 2021 and he says, “Be safe and stay healthy. These are tough times but we'll go through it and get over it. We must adapt to the situation, and then overcome it. I will want to give my audience some good work and will try to do more good work. Hope they will enjoy my work and love it.”
