Ssumier S Pasricha: I can’t have those WhatsApp love and weekend loves.. for me, stability, respect, space, trust etc matters

Actor Ssumier S Pasricha's who is getting appreciation for his role in the film Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui  believes that love is friendship. One needs to cultivate a relationship out of a friend.

“I can’t have those WhatsApp love and weekend loves. Stability, respect, space, trust, taking out time for each other, being there for each other in tough times and holding hands are what true love is all about,” he says before talking about how social media has blurred the lines between real and fake, and therefore made it harder to find love.

“We all have become a slave to social media. The constant pressure of showing someone that you are working hard, working on a new project, sharing new and innovative pictures everyday…  90% of all these are fake. Filters have taken over real beauty. People have become perfectly body-obsessed, trolling and demeaning people. It's a very sad state of affairs. I believe in giving time to your lover or loved ones and that’s what I learned from my parents. I don’t believe in timepass love. Either you are serious or not. You can’t be in-between like ‘Chalo dekh lete hai ki kya hota hai’… This whole thing about going with the flow has destroyed relationships,” he adds.

Many say love is an illusion. Ssumier disagrees. “Love is not magic or illusion, it's just a feeling of being loved by someone who truly cares for you. And it can be in any form, be it your parents, siblings, relatives, partner etc,” he explains.

It is often said that celebrities are always chasing name and fame, and in the process don't find any love. “Well, it’s the other way round... It’s people who need to take celebrities seriously and not have assumptions ki yeh celebrity hain isko toh bahut mil Jayenge … We all are human and we need love and time. We all need to take out time for each other at the end of the day to make it work. Being famous or not famous has nothing to do with love. It’s about priorities that we set in our lives,” he ends.
