Director Ashish Shrivastav: It’s alright if intimate scenes are shown given the demand of the story, but if it’s forcefully put then that’s indecent

The pandemic has acted as a boon for the OTT. The space flourishing with quality content has got many takers, feels director Ashish Shrivastav.

“I think OTT actors are stars in their own way because when you choose what you want to watch on OTT platform one criteria that one looks for is the cast in the series of film. So we can’t say they are anything less than stars. In fact their reach is much more because these OTT platforms are watched worldwide and with their brilliant performances they are connecting with the audience everywhere,” says the director of TV shows, Shaadi Mubarak, Yeh Rishte Hai Pyar Ke, Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai, Ishq Subhan Allah, Piya Albela, Kahani Ghar Ghar ki and many more.

The OTT censorship works in a different way. There are separate content for adults and children and the latter needs to watch thing under parental guidance. Many are of the opinion that OTT takes the liberty by showing a lot of bold scenes, usage of cuss words, etc.

“If there is a demand of the story and that too organically it is needed then that’s alright but if you are forcefully putting such scenes or incidence just to make an attractive package deal then it's indecent. I don’t think such wrong things work out in the long run,” he adds.

Ashish prefers watching real life stories and narratives with messages on OTT. He is also fond of emotional shows that are high on family values. “I liked Gulak, Delhi Crime, Patalok, Panchayat etc. I would like to direct such content in future on OTT,” he concludes.
